This Privacy Policy describes the information that NorthStar Source Group, LLC, Source Digital, Inc., and its affiliates (“NSG,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”) may collect through your use of our services, including the website at www.TheSource.com (“Website”), and related mobile applications, including The Source Streaming (“Applications”)(collectively, the “Services”).  Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.  By visiting our Website and using our Services, you agree that your information, including your personal information, will be handled as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

  1. Categories of Information We Collect

A. Information That You Provide Directly. We request information directly from you when you register for an account on our Services, when you participate in promotions, surveys and other activities through our Services, when you provide ratings, taste preferences and account settings, and when you contact us regarding questions or concerns you may have regarding the Service or otherwise provide information to us.  Information we collect from you directly may include your name, username, email address, password, phone number, mailing address, and postal code, and any messages you send to us through the Services.

B. Information We Collect Automatically.  We collect information about you and your use of our Services, your interactions with us and our advertising, and information regarding your network, computers, and other devices used to access the Services (including, for example, smart TVs, mobile devices, and other streaming media devices).  This information may include:

(i) Your activity on our Services, including information relating to programs that you have accessed or viewed through the Applications, your time spent in the Applications, your access of and navigation through our Website, your search queries, and your saved, downloaded, or purchased content.

(ii) Your interaction with our emails, texts, messages, and push notifications on mobile devices.

(iii) Analytics information regarding traffic and usage trends for our Services, such as IP address, browser type, mobile device ID, device name and model, operating system, location, date/time of access, page view statistics, time spent on each web page or logged into Application, and URLs from which traffic to our Website is arriving from.

(iv) Information collected through cookies, web beacons, or device identifiers, as described below:

Cookies:  Cookies are small text files that we send to your computer to uniquely identify your browser, convey information to us on how you use the Services and track your usage of the Services.  Other companies that provide analytics tools and place advertising on our site also have the ability to place cookies on your computer.  We may use “session cookies” and “persistent cookies.” A “session cookie” is temporary and disappears when you close your browser.  A “persistent cookie” remains on your hard drive after you close your browser, and may be used on subsequent visits to the Service.  Persistent cookies may be removed by configuring your browser’s functionality to remove cookies, and you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or notify you when a cookie is sent. Some features of the Services may not function properly if cookies are disabled.  At this time, we do not recognize “Do Not Track” signals sent from web browsers.

Web beacons:  Our web pages or email messages may send a small graphic image called a web beacon that allows us to collect certain information such as the IP address of the computer receiving the web beacon, the type of browser requesting the web beacon, and the time the web beacon was viewed.  We may use web beacons to count visitors to our Website, to monitor our how our users navigate our Website, and in emails to count how many were opened by the recipients.  Web beacons often work together with cookies and in many cases, declining or blocking cookies will impair the web beacons associated with those cookies.

Device Identifiers:  When you access or use the Services using a mobile device, tablet or streaming media device, we may access, collect, monitor, or remotely store one or more device identifiers.  Device identifiers are small data files or similar data structures similar to cookies and are found on many mobile devices, tablets and streaming media devices. They are used to for analytics and optimization purposes and to make online advertising more relevant for the user. To opt out of interest-based ads from us in connection with a device identifier, you may configure the appropriate setting on your mobile device, tablet or streaming media device, which is often found under “ads” or “privacy” in the device settings.

(v) Location Data. When you access or use the Services, we may access, collect, monitor, or remotely store location data, which may include GPS coordinates or similar information identifying the location of your device.  Location data conveys to us information about how you browse and use the Services and allows us to provide localized features and content.  We may combine your location data information with other information we have collected about you.

C. Information From Partners

We may collect information from other companies with whom you have a relationship (“Partners”) in order to provide our Services to you.  These Partners may include, but are not limited to, internet service providers, streaming media device providers, and mobile phone carriers.  The information Partners provide us may include: search queries and commands applicable to our Services that you make through Partner devices; service activation information such as your email address or other contact information; and IP addresses, device IDs, or other unique identifiers.

D. Information From Other Sources

We may also obtain information from other sources for our use consistent with this Privacy Policy.  These sources may include (i) payment service providers who provide us with payment or balance information based on their relationship with you, (ii) security service providers who provide us with information to secure our systems and prevent fraud, and (iii) data providers from whom we obtain aggregated, interest-based, and online advertising related data.

From time to time, we may add the capability to log into our Services through different social networking sites. If you log into our Services through a social networking site, we may request your name and certain basic information directly from you. We also may request certain permissions from you, which vary based on the social networking site.  For information about how a particular social networking site may disclose your information, including any information you make public, please consult its privacy policy. We have no control over how a third-party social networking site uses or discloses the personal information that you provide to it. We store the information that we receive from the social networking site along with other information that we collect from you or receive about you.

We use your information to provide our Services to you and for the following purposes:

  • To deliver video programming and other services to you

Business associates and service providers:  We share information about you, including personal information, with third party business associates and service providers that perform services on our behalf in connection with providing the Services.   For example, we may engage service providers to provide marketing, advertising, legal and accounting services, communications, security, storage, infrastructure, and IT services, to customize, personalize and optimize our service, to provide bank account or balance information, to process credit card transactions or other payment methods, to provide customer service, and to analyze and enhance data (including data about users’ interactions with our Services).   We do not authorize business associates and service providers to use or disclose your personal information except in connection with providing their services to us.

We may also disclose such user information whenever we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, reputation, property, or safety of NSG, or any of our respective affiliates, subsidiaries, business partners, users or others, or as otherwise required by law.

Aggregate Information:  We may disclose aggregated, anonymized user statistics to third parties for a variety of purposes, including describing our services to prospective partners and other third parties, such as advertisers, and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy.  Examples of such aggregated, non-personal information may include the number of users who accessed the Services during a specific time period or the number of users who purchased a specific product through the Services.

Business Change:  If we become involved in a merger, consolidation, acquisition, sale of assets, joint venture, securities offering, bankruptcy, reorganization, liquidation, dissolution, or other transaction, or if the ownership of all or substantially all of our business otherwise changes, we may share or transfer your information to a third party or parties in connection with such transaction or change in ownership.

Advertising:  We allow third parties such as network advertisers to serve advertisements through our Services. Network advertisers are third parties that display advertisements based on your use of our Services, your visits to our Website and other websites you have visited. This enables us and these third parties to target advertisements to you for products and services in which you might be interested. Third party ad network providers, advertisers, sponsors and/or traffic measurement services may use cookies, JavaScript, web beacons, Flash LSOs and other technologies to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content to you.
