News of Whitney’s death sends a shockwave throughout the entertainment industry.
While there are not many details at this time, a rep for Houston has confirmed to the Associated Press that the 48-year old singer passed away this afternoon. The cause of death is still unknown. Houston was discoverd by a member of her entourage at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles earlier this afternoon at 3:55PM, TMZ reports. Some news outlets have reported that it was singer and rumored boyfriend on again off again Ray J. who found Whitney, but a rep for Ray J. is denying that.
Houston is often mentioned as one of the greatest voices of our time. Her music legacy is untainted, bolstering six Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards and 22 American Music Awards. Over the course of her career, Whitney has struggled with drug addiction.
She leaves behind her only daughter Bobbi Kristina, from her marriage to ex-husband Bobby Brown.
