Shepard Fairey aka OBEY pled guilty in his criminal case with Associated Press in New York. He pled guilty to one count of criminal contempt for destroying documents, manufacturing evidence, submitting false images in his legal battle with AP involving his “Hope” poster of Barack Obama in 2009.  AP accused Fairely of improper using their photo of President Obama in his “Hope” poster and Shepard Fairey claimed that that he was covered by fair use laws.

Fairey sentencing date has been set for July 16th, he faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison, a maximum fine of $5,000, and a maximum term of supervised release of one year.  In 2011, Fairey settled his civil case with AP out of court.
