Along with living legend KRS and and then teenaged D-Nice, DJ Scott La Rock helped pioneer the legendary BDP crew to iconic status within the Hip Hop world. He contributed to one of Hip Hop’s most revered and analyzed projects, the “Criminal Minded” album and was viewed as one of the top producers in the game during the budding Golden Era. At the height of Criminal Minded’s success, Scott Sterling was gunned down on a South Bronx street trying to mediate a dispute between D-Nice and some of his associates in Highbridge Projects in the Bronx. He was the catalyst to changing KRS’ creative direction as well as the spark for the Stop The Violence Movement. The social worker turned world famous DJ and producer will forever be a part of Hip Hop history and TheSource.com celebrates his 50th born day today.
