Apparently Tom Cruise has been chosen to play opposite Beyonce Knowles in a remake of A Star is Born. Director Clint Eastwood was interested in Cruise following his role as an 80’s rocker in the upcoming Rock of Ages movie.
Beyonce who has been enjoying motherhood, will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand. The original Star is Born was a big screen hit in the 1930s and it has already been remade before, once with Judy Garland and James Mason in 1957 and again with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in 1976.The film is centered around an aging, alcoholic musician who falls for a younger female star while mentoring her.
Beyonce said in a recent interview about the film “Every 30 years they remake this movie filming the biggest star of that generation I didn’t know I was that star” Knowles also stated “This is the biggest opportunity of my life and I will work as hard as I can” Production is expected to begin in late 2012.
