Kobe Reportedly Set to Recruit Lamar Odom & Derek Fisher Back to the Lakers

TheSource.Com

According to a source at NBA.com, Kobe Bryant is working to recruit Lamar Odom and Derek Fisher back to the Lakers when they become free agents during the summer.  Both Odom and Fisher were traded by the Lakers in controversial fashion.  Odom demanded a trade and was sent to the Mavericks after a botched trade for Chris Paul left him feeling upset and unwanted.  Since then Odom has struggled to play as great as he did when he earned the title of Sixth Man of the Year.  He’s been benched and almost ended up in the D-League.  Fisher was traded after the acquisition of point guard Ramon Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Fisher was sent to the Houston Rockets over concern of how he would feel about being a backup for Sessions.

Due to the now damaged relationship with the two and the Lakers, it is uncertain if either would be willing to return to the team.  Kobe Bryant however is still close with both players and speaks to Fisher constantly.  Although Bryant claims to not discuss basketball with the two the conversation could soon change as the source points out he feels a reunion would be in their best interest.

Odom is under contract for next season but is only partially guaranteed.  Based off his dismal season the Mavericks may very well allow him to become a free agent.  Fisher negotiated a buyout with the Rockets and is signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the rest of the season. With both Fisher and Odom playing for rivals in the West it is uncertain whether either would be willing to return, Kobe must also convince the front office whom I’m sure listens to his every word.
