Everybody wants some of the Tebow action.  Nike filed a lawsuit against Reebok for using Tebow’s name on Jets related apparel right after it was announced that Tebow was traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets.  The Tebow trade occurred just before Nike replaced Reebok as the official supplier of NFL team uniforms.  Reebok was the supplier for ten years.  Nike is set to unveil new uniforms for all 32 teams next week in New York City, kicking off their new five-year deal with the NFL.

Nike is asserting that Reebok misappropriated publicity rights, interfered with business relationships and unjustly enriched itself because it failed to get Tebow’s permission before launching the new products.  Nike feels the demand was extremely high for Tebow jersey’s following the announcement.  They also claim that demand is now significantly lower and they will not be able to capitalize off the “unique and short-lived opportunity.”  They are suing for unspecified damages.
