Today, pop superstar Akon celebrates his 39th birthday. The singer/songwriter/producer has released three solo albums, Trouble, Konvicted, and Freedom, and is expected to drop his fourth, tentatively titled Stadium. In addition to his own platinum selling success, the Senegalese American recording artist has also been influential in the careers of some of the most successful artists in the music business. He is widely accepted as the person responsible for introducing Lady Gaga and was one of the last artists to work with Michael Jackson before he died.
