Royal Oak, Michigan UHF record store owner, Jeff Bubeck acquired an abundance of the late producer/ rapper J Dilla’s record collection. The Detroit News reported that approximately 8,000 pieces including vinyl and cassette tapes (some labeled Jaydee Beats) became the property of record store by way of an abandoned storage unit located in Clinton Township, Michigan.

The late J Dilla, also remembered as Jay Dee whose real name is James Yancy, was a fond collector of music. He passed away in L.A., where he lived, three days after his 32nd birthday in February 2006 from lupus. A member of the trio group ‘Slum Village‘, J Dilla also worked closely with ‘De La Soul‘ and ‘Pharcyde‘ in the 90’s and is also well remembered for his work with Common, Janet Jackson, Macy Gray, and Erykah Badu.

Jeff says that he has been trying to contact J Dilla’s mother, Maureen Yancy as well as the J Dilla Foundation to donate proceeds from the collection sales but, has not been successful in reaching them.
