Lil Wayne tweeted about being denied access to Oklahoma City Thunder game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs.  Since then a firestorm of drama and speculation has occurred.  The latest spin to the story is the possibility of racism.

Lil Wayne told The Associated Press on Friday night that he felt unwelcome, even after a pair of Thunder players reached out to say they would help him get tickets.

“That’s not the point, though,” Lil Wayne said. “It’s the players stepping up but, of course, the players aren’t white. I don’t want to be sitting there on behalf of you and I’m sitting next to a (person) that’s like ‘I don’t want this (guy) sitting next to me.’ (Forget) you … I’m in Forbes,” he said, laughing.

Thunder spokesman Dan Mahoney said the rapper’s representatives demanded front-row seats but none were available. “We’d love to have him at a game, but like anyone else, he needs a ticket,” Mahoney said.  The Thunder has sold out every game in the regular season and playoffs this season.

Lil Wayne was offered tickets by both OKC stars Kevin Durant and James Harden.  Durant says Lil Wayne should have hit him up for tickets also stating, “We need people like that around here,” referring to Wayne’s celebrity status.

Harden also offered tickets to Lil Wayne tweeting, “@LilTunechi Come to the Next game. We got seats for u 5! Whooppp!”, dispelling rumors that Wayne was denied access due to Hardens new relationship with rapper Trina, Wayne’s ex.

Kevin Durant’s brother Tony happens to agree with Wayne on the racism issue tweeting, “Only in OKC where Lil Wayne can’t get a ticket but I bet Tobe Keith could get in with this whole band terrible smh (shaking my head) hahahahaha.”

I’m not sure whether the racism aspect is true but fuel was added to the fire with Ryan Seacrest spotted sitting courtside during game 4 of the playoffs.  Seacrest was a guest of Jeffrey Records, CEO and chairman of MidFirst Bank and part owner of the Thunder.  Whatever the case may be and despite numerous offers I guess we won’t be seeing Lil Wayne sitting courtside at any Thunder games in the future, luckily for him the Miami Heat are still in the playoffs, he’s a frequent guest there amongst other places.
