On May 4th 2012 the Hip Hop community received a gut wrenching blow when Adam Nathaniel Yauch, known as MCA of the Beastie Boys passed away after a 3 year embattlement with throat cancer. MCA was much more than a platinum selling hip hop artist; he was a talented film director, songwriter and human rights activist. MCA was a visionary; he believed in his messages and thus was able to create a tidal wave of influence to the many generations that tuned into his music. The monumental effects of MCA’s music and humanitarian ideas reverberated from the West Coast to the East Coast and beyond.
