As most of the country will be celebrating America’s independence from Great Britian, many in the conscious community, including Hip Hop artists, have always been very vocal against the injustices perpetrated against Black people by the same country that promotes Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. It’s no secret that slavery was still in full effect on July 4, 1776, so it’s evident that this independence wasn’t meant for everyone. Let’s celebrate the artists who promote freedom, justice, and equality through righteous rap over the boom bap.
