Coldplay and Jay-Z split the stage last night for sold out crowd at the Barclays Center. Coldplay hit the stage with a dope lightshow/performance that even the most avid hip-hop fan would have to tip their hat to. Starting around 10PM Coldplay was alone on the stage until Jay-Z made a brief performance before his set to perform “Most Kingz” with Chris Martin. Wrapping up their set around 11:00-11:15 PM.
DJ Cassidy provided music that included the Four Seasons, Michael Jackson, and The Isley Brothers. Jay-Z then came to the stage with Chris Martin at 11:59 to bring in the new year with their rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.” From there Jay-Z controlled the stage.
Kicking his show off with “Run This Town” Jay-Z ran through a 25 song set that took the show to 1:30 AM. Jay performed old cuts such as “Feelin’ It” and “Where I’m From” and even some newer cuts in his verses on “3 Kings,” and “Clique.” Even though Kanye West had played shows in Atlantic City night and two days before there was no Ye guest appearence. Jay-Z did bring out Chris Martin again for “Heart Of The City (Ain’t No Love)” and Roc Nation’s Bridget Kelly for “Empire State Of Mind” and “Song Cry.”
At the end of the night Jay-Z and Coldplay provided a special night for all those attended, and brought in 2013 in a classic way.
