In a recent interview with MTV, hip-hop veteran Noreaga revealed his decision to change his rap name from N.O.R.E. to P.A.P.I., which stands for Power Always Proves Intelligence. Why after 16 years in the game has N.O.R.E. decided to switch things up?

Well, according to the Queens-bred MC, he wanted to do something completely different for his new Student Of The Game LP. He also says that he goes by P.A.P.I. in his hood of Lefrak City, and his parents don’t even call him by his real name (Victor) or Noreaga – so apparently the name isn’t really a new name for him, its just new to his fans. Well, the name change did wonders for 2 Chainz, so I can’t say it’s a bad idea!

Well, I’m sorry but I’m still calling him N.O.R.E.! I mean c’mon, him and Capone can’t be CNN if his name starts with a P… CNP just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Oh, and be aware that P.A.P.I.’s new video with Pusha T, 2 Chainz and French Montana for a track titled “Tadow” will be premiering on MTV Jams this Sunday as the jam of the week. Check out a trailer for the video below.
