Ferg finally got recognized for “puttin in WORK!”

Congratulations are in order to A$AP Ferg of the A$AP Mob, as a recent press release has revealed that he has signed a deal with Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records, the same label his partner in rhyme, A$AP Rocky is signed to.

If you’re like me, Ferg first caught your attention with his distinctive voice rapping about “blowin’ hella smoke, talkin on his cell-a-phone” on Rocky’s “Kissin’ Pink” off of his 2011 mixtape release LiveLoveA$AP.

More recently, Fergenstein has gained momentum for his trap banger, “Work” which was featured on the A$AP Mob’s collective mixtape, Lords Never Worry. The track was in steady rotation on radio stations, namely Hot 97, and if you’ve been to a rap show in 2012, you can bet the opening DJ spun it to get the crowd jumpin. “Work” will actually be the first commercial release for Ferg under Polo Grounds Music/RCA, dropping as a in iTunes single on January 22nd.

We’re very happy for Ferg here at The Source! Keep puttin’ in that work, homie!

His Mob brethren Rocky commented on the new deal, saying: “I’m just proud right now because this is everything we wished and hoped for. A$AP Ferg worked hard for this and I put all my faith and backing into him. I feel like ‘Work’ is our generation’s ‘Sippin On Some Syrup’ [by Three 6 Mafia and UGK] or ‘Chickenhead’ [by Project Pat, La Chat and Three 6 Mafia], it has that feeling.”

Oh, and in case you forgot – Rocky’s debut solo album, LiveLoveA$AP drops in a few days on January 14th.
