Teen movies are a profitable staple in the movie industry and throughout the years this genre has reinvented itself to adapt to the times. Back in the 90’s teen movies were at their height and House Party kicked off the wave at the start of the decade. Popular hip-hop duo Kid ‘n Play’s successful performances in the film spawned two more sequels featuring the two and another two sequels after.
House Party follows Kid as he sneaks out of his house while being grounded for getting into a fight to go to Play’s party. Things get out of control when Kid discovers that people he has beef with plan on retaliating against him. Martin Lawrence and Robin Harris also star alongside Kid ‘n Play.
The soundtrack consists of contributions from Flavor Flav, LL Cool K, Kid ‘n Play, and Luther Vandross.
