Mike D and Ad-Rock will release “multidimensional” memoir in 2015.

The Beastie Boys, with over 30 years of monumental success, have built a career boasting with critical and commercial success. With several multi-platinum albums, successful headlining tours and a video catalogue that stands out among competition, it is only fitting that there would be an unconventional memoir made tracking their historic career.

Surviving members Mike D and Ad-Rock have inked a deal with Spiegel & Grau to publish a “multidimensional” experience decorating their career. After the passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch, who lost the battle to salivary gland cancer, the time didn’t seem right to publish the memoir. “After Yauch died, I didn’t push them, but I think that Adam and Mike ended up realizing that it was the right time for them,” book agent Luke Janklow said.

As mentioned before, the duo are not interested in releasing just any memoir. The upcoming project will consist of several components, making up what only seems to be a fitting documenation of their journey. Julie Grau, publisher at Spiegel & Grau had the following to say about the duo’s intentions, “(They’re) interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience. There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.” The book will be released under the same group that released Jay-Z’s “Decoded.”

Hip-Hop journalist, Sacha Jenkins, will edit the book and will be in the format of an oral history of their career. Other writers are expected to contribute on the project and the use of visuals will be a priority in detailing the band’s experiences.

You can expect the memoir out in 2015. Stay tuned for more information regarding the deal.
