Take It Personal Will Feature Hip Hop’s Elite Each Show

On Friday, April 26, 2013, The legendary DJ Premier was featured in the Hip Hop Improv Show – Take it Personal presented by Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds and Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), the top improv theatre and school in NYC. Improvisers Cipha Sounds, Abra Tabak, Anthony Atamanuik, Chris Gethard, Phil Jackson, and Brandon Gardner reenacted stories originally told by DJ Premier.

Cipha Sounds quickly noticed the similarities between improv and hip hop. Both have been around for many years and have never combined forces, but that will soon change through Take it Personal. Cipha Sounds’ passion for improv grew as he began to master the art form. He set forth on a path to create a brand new type of show where stories would be told from Hip Hop’s notables. “Hip hop and improv are similar because they are both spontaneous, spur of the moment, from the gut, freestyled, and very entertaining. Both have cult like followings and fanatic fans,” said Cipha Sounds.

Ebro (Hot 97), Omar the Commedian, Dominican Drew (Hot 97), Themar Dumay (, Keithe Nelson (, and Willy Dope of Par-City stopped by to show their support.
