In 2008, just over a year after releasing his Grammy Award-winning rap album Graduation, Kanye decided to go on an emotional rollercoaster with the funky, alternative pop and r&B 808’s & Heartbreaks, which introduced listeners to a side of Kanye that had, lyrically, never been heard before. Though it was touted as an amazing effort by most, Mr. West has never re-visited this side of him, though its influences could still be heard on his return to wax two years later, with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
