The Source – This is what someone said about you after the combine “Morris is a thick running back out of Florida Atlantic who was productive throughout his career as a featured back. Morris is a bit of a tweener — not big enough to be a physically imposing back in the NFL, but far from fast or athletic enough to impress with his athleticism. He is a serviceable runner who at best could carry a load like BenJarvus Green-Ellis of New England, but he will have to prove he has the speed and athleticism to deserve a shot. He carries late-round or free-agent value”.…You set the Washington redskins all time single season rushing record how does you feel knowing someone said that about you than you achieved so much more?

AM – I mean (laughs) I don’t feel any type of way I’ve been told that my whole life. I never went in with a chip on my shoulder, I knew what I was capable of doing and I just needed the opportunity. People say that stuff all the time I’m not fast enough or strong enough but I know who I am. The one thing that all tests at the combine can’t measure is a man’s heart, and I got a whole lot of heart and that something nobody can take away from me. No matter what size you are big, small, fat I’m going to give it my all, and I’m going to find a way to beat you. It’s me verse you and I’m going to beat you, I’m going to find a way to beat you. So when I see people like that I just chuckle at em, they don’t what type of player, type of person I am or the type of mindset I have so when I see that I chuckle at it. I don’t feel anytime of way that’s someone’s opinion and we are all entitled to our own opinion, and I thank people for theirs. I don’t listen to the naysayers, I just know what I’m capable of and I know what my focus is and I’m going to play as long as I can.

The Source – Are you still driving your 1991 Mazda 626 also known as Bentley?

AM – Oh yea I’m definitely still driving the Mazda (Laughs)

The Source – What does the Mazda symbolize to you?

AM – It symbolizes where I came from and what it took to get where I am. It’s an eyesore to most people but to me it’s beautiful. A lot of people think it’s a gimmick but I had to work for that and like everything I’ve been doing and been able to do in football and just in life I have had to work for. It just reminds me to be humble, it keeps me grounded, and it reminds me of where I came from, never be complacent and to continue and to always strive for more. That’s why I keep it, that’s why I love the car that I have. It has a lot of sentimental value to me so I know what it took to get that, and to get to the NFL. It just reminds of what I want to do and how I got here today.

The Source – It’s a 1991 car, its eventually going to run its lifespan. Are you going to keep it around when that happens?

AM – (Laughs) Oh yea definitely even when it breaks down I’m going to fix it back up. Hopefully one day I get to show my kids, I didn’t have a car so if I play my cards right my kids will be in a different situation than when I was when I was coming up, because I grew up in poverty. If they’re going to be brought up in surplus I got to find a way to teach them the lessons I was taught. So if I can keep that car as long as I can, if it breaks I’ll fix it back up and maybe my son or my daughter will want it. It will teach them the value of things like that, so I’m going to figure out a way to teach them lessons so I’m going to try and keep it around as long as I can.
