Film Review: The Internship

The-Internship-poster-535x795In this economy, people can go to extreme lengths to try to get a job. None, however, match up against the scheming antics of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in “The Internship.”

“The Internship” follows Wilson and Vaughn as they go from being unemployed watch salesmen to trying to get a job via an internship at Google. They are older than all of the other candidates and not as book smart, but they still bring something special to the table.  The internship class is broken up into teams, which complete a series of challenges and competitions. Directed by Shawn Levy (also known for “Date Night”), the film stars Wilson, Vaughn, John Goodman, Rose Byrne, Aasif Mandvi and more.

The film was pretty entertaining for a reused idea. The cast’s lesser-known costars: Josh Brener, Dylan O’Brien, Tiya Sircar and Tobit Raphael all  equally shine.

After you get past the numerous Google promotions and mentions, the film does engage the audience. Some of the highlights include witty nerd vs. nerd battles and despite the cliched and predictable moments in the storyline, it was one of the better “nerd” movies we have seen in a while.

The film comes out June 7th and is a pretty good watch if you liked “Wedding Crashers.”
