The Miami Heat collect back to back championships

First let me start this off by saying that the NBA could not have given us a better NBA Finals. Hats off to one of the most respected franchises in all of sports, the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs even though they came up short were one of the most resilient and fun teams to watch this whole playoffs. Whether it was Danny Green, Gary Neal, Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, or Tim Duncan the Spurs simply deserve all the respect in the world.

Now to the Heat, for the second year in a row the Miami Heat are NBA Champions. From a Eastern Conference Finals with the Pacers that was very entertaining to this NBA Finals they were great. Just like the Spurs it wasn’t all about the big three, the finals really came down to which role players were going to step up on a given night. In Game 6 it was Mario Chalmers and Ray Allen, but tonight belonged to Shane Battier off the bench. Battier’s 18 points off the bench combined with Wade and James’ performance lifted the Heat to a Game 7 win.

I don’t want to say Dwyane Wade played like the Dwyane Wade of old but tonight he definitely played like a younger Wade. Just when everyone was counting Wade out as a player and as a superstar he rose to the occasion. D-Wade poured in 23 points with a solid compliment of 10 rebounds.

The show really belonged to LeBron James who reminded us why he is the best player in the world. When the Spurs dared LeBron to shoot the ball he did and he made them. LeBron captured his second NBA Finals MVP behind the healthy stat line of 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 5-10 shooting from three point land. For the second year in a row LeBron James has claimed the regular season MVP, Finals MVP, and the NBA Championship.

Once again this was one of the best NBA Finals ever. I don’t want to say it was the best because quite frankly I have never watched all the NBA Finals that have taken place, but saying this was ONE of the best is a safe call to me. Spurs fan, Heat fan, or fan of neither all fans of the NBA were winners with this series.

So when does the next season start?
