It is not rare for artists to attempt to crossover from the booth to film in today’s age. In 1978, it was rare anf Jackson tested his acting skills in the film adaptation of the Broadway play The Wiz, playing a scarecrow without a brain. Acting did wonders for Jackson as it became clear that his talents stretched far beyond the mic.
