Internet culture has been totally transformed by Twitter, the hyper-communicative social media platform that allows users to share information in 140-characters. Twitter.com was started in 2006 by the tech-savvy trio, Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Biz Stone that developed the project to enable more rapid-fire communication in the social stratosphere. After the project took off in 2009, Twitter soon became a mainstream avenue for web communication, encompassing users from almost every demographic while also being adopted and endorsed by celebrities, corporations, and more. Hip-Hop and R&B are two of the most talked about genres on Twitter with hip-hop ranking in over 24 million mentions.
