Notable Songs: “Jay Z Interview II”; “HITstory”; “Old School Caddy (Feat. Kid Cudi)”; “She Belongs to the City”; “Jay Z Interview”; “WyW (Feat. John Legend)”

Hit-Boy is founder and owner of the entire label, and thus, the leader. To say that he is major, would be like saying bed bugs are just an inconvenience. He has worked with both Kanye West and Jay Z, arguably the two most influential artists of today. Hit-Boy has been called on by many great artists to lend his magic touch to their projects. Already a Grammy winner, Hit-Boy has decided to try his hand at emceeing. So far, his foray into the rapping game has gone off without a hitch.

Last year, Hit-Boy released his debut rapping project, HITstroy. It is a hard transition from producer to emcee, and many can’t make that leap, but Hit-Boy does a good job at it. As a first official attempt, it was a really well rounded mixtape. His lyricism was on point. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the entire project was the breadth of topics he choose to speak on. Talking about his riches may have been a major theme throughout, but he really delves into some personal aspects of his stardom and life. Songs like “Jay Z Interview” make you want to go out and just hustle to achieve your goals.

Hit-Boy’s production rarely let’s anyone down, and that goes for his debut as well. He has a great ear for sounds, and really crafts interesting beats. The amount of artists that he is working with is impressive, especially when you realize that he also has to run his record label.

He is one of the best in the business, and I think he will help his fellow HS87 members become better artists.
