Despite the delay from 2011 to now, the film is finally making major progress after confirming co-financing and co-production from Emma Furla Oasis Films and Morgan Creek Productions.

An updated version of the script, writted by Eddie Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft, is in development.

There is still no word on who will play the film’s namesake, but an online casting call was released March 2011 in hopes of finding the best actor to capture Tupac’s essence, just as Jamal Woodlard, an unknown actor, did as Biggie in Notorious (2009).

With legal rights to Pac’s extended music catalog as well as Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother, listed as a producer of the film, “Tupac” can be exptected to be an accurate display of his story as well as an exciting furthering of his legacy.
