Jamla Record’s first lady, Rapsody, released the visuals to one of her fan favorites off of her new mixtape She Got Game this morning. “Kingship” features a collaboration with hip-hop’s legendary producer, DJ Premier, who brings that traditional boom bap sound that Rapsody just destroys.
Brian Petchers directed the black and white video. It has a really stylish and sleek look, almost in the style of an old documentary. It is shot at Premo’s iconic New York City studio, and showcases his many musical accomplishments. Rapsody has a tough task in sharing the screen with a hip hop deity, but she holds her own and shows that she has what it takes to become great one day.
The video hearkens back to the days of emcee and DJs, which is a beautiful thing. Check out the video above, and get Rapsody’s new mixtape, She Got Game.
