Do you smell that?  It’s the putrid yet appealing scent of dirty laundry when it first hits the air.  In battle rap you tend to get used to it, because in a world where insult is the lynchpin of success, dirty laundry finds it’s way out of the hamper frequently. This week, the smell can be traced back to a battle that never even took place! However, this week wasn’t just about gossip. Two battles dropped, one of which has the potential to achieve legendary status and the other featured a little person on a leash. Here are this week’s 5 biggest battle rap moments.

5. The Dirtbag Dan Show Episode 16

Dirtbag Dan has an impressive enough resume to be considered a vet. His approach is full of scathing yet hilarious attacks at his opponent coupled with enough self-knowledge not to take his opponents attacks against him too seriously.  Like many retired vets do in sports (though Dan is not retired) Dirtbag Dan has become something like the Dick Vitale of the battle world, crossed with a little Howard Stern (if Dick Viatle  and Howard Stern constantly puffed on a vaporizers while on air.) The Dirtbag Dan show stands currently as the most informative “show” about the bi-weekly occurrences of the battle world, with weekly segments and battle reviews.  This week was special because of the appearance of Avocado, an editor/cinematographer responsible for covering KOTD and Grindtime battles for the past couple of years.  The Avocado interview was interesting not only because he’s seen so many legendary battles over the years, but also because he is the man responsible for the lush and sleek aesthetic of King of the Dot’s battle.  Thanks to Avocado, nobody can compete with King of the Dot when it comes to the look of their battle videos.  Avocado discussed his favorite battles with Aspect, Lush One and Caustic. Also discussed: the forthcoming Battle of the Bay 6, why New Yorkers are miserable, Big K’s big t-shirts and why Arcane turned down an offer to battle Caustic.
