The best of Chi-Town’s up and comers showed their skills last week @ Club E
Last week, while the entire country had a magnifying glass on the violence plaguing the city of Chicago, an element of Chi-Town that has been infected with real lyricists and beatsmiths who were all gathered at Club E on the city’s West Side for the “Who’s Poppin'” talent showcase. The spot was packed Saturday night as DJ Shame rocked the 1s and 2s while the host Don V held down the position of Master of Ceremonies. Salute to Ray “Dojaman” Badillo, Mic Murdah, and the B.D.C.(Bout Dat Cash) team who facilitated the whole event and showed some real Windy City hospitality.
There were 10 acts that did the damn thing, however, only three of them were chosen as winners who are as follows:
The dude with the funny name has some serious rhymes. A veteran of the Chi’s underground Hip Hop scene, Bugs went one hard and showed that hard work and consistency pays off in the end.
A self proclaimed representative of Chicago’s crime rhyme wave, G-Ball definitely embodied the streets more than any of the other contestants of the night with his slick speech and matter of fact delivery style.
At 19 years old, Zip was the youngest of all the competitors, yet spit his set with the confidence and appearance of a seasoned vet. Definitely look out for this kid in time to come.
