kanye-west-on-jimmy-kimmel-618x400For years after his interview with Matt Lauer, Kanye West refused to do any press, citing his disenfranchisement with traditional media and fear of being misinterpreted and misquoted for the sake of selling magazines and increasing ratings; however, since the release of his most experimental album to date, Yeezus, The Louis Vuitton Don has given a number of memorable interviews, most notably with his mother-in-law Kris Jenner and BBC Radio host Zane Lowe. And although his tirade at Pusha T’s MNIMN album listening event wasn’t an interview, it still gave the world plenty of quotables, inspiring songs and giving King Push an invaluable cosign. Well, we can now add his sitdown with Jimmy Kimmel last night to the list of great recent interviews. Kanye appeared on the show after a twitter spat with Kimmel who aired a comedy sketch on his show starring two children re-enacting Ye’s interview with Zane Lowe. Kanye, infuriated by what he perceived as belittlement of his statements, took to Twitter in a back-and-forth with Kimmel that led to West appearing on his late night show yesterday. West continued to reiterate his sentiments from the 4 part Zane Lowe sitdown, even going as far as comparing celebrities to zoo animals: made to be gawked at and admired but with no true freedom outside of their carefully curated confinements. Ye spoke on paparazzi, his desire to influence fashion, architecture, and education, as well as his refusal to be restricted by traditional views of humility and Kim Kardashian’s rightful place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
