When Guerilla Black hit the scene in 2004, his similarities to Biggie Smalls were so prevalent that it was actually sorta creepy. He sounded like Big, in terms of vocal inflection and flow, he looked like Big (dark skinned and rotund), he even put Beenie Man on his breakout single “Compton”, a move reminiscent of the Black Frank White’s Jamaican heritage and affinity. But soon it was clear to see that the L.A. rapper was no Biggie. His bars couldn’t match up when put under the microscope, not to mention Guerilla lacked the wit, lyricism, and charisma that made Big a fan favorite.
