The Queen Bee Is Buzzing Back
When you came in the game with legends like The Notorious B.I.G. and you’ve had success in 3 different decades, expectations are always high. When you’re one of the few females to survive and thrive in the male-dominated landscape of hip-hop, the pressure is even more intense. But don’t tell that to Lil’ Kim. Brooklyn’s Queen Bee has always demanded the respect of her female and male peers alike by the quality of her music and her consistency throughout the years. With a new project on the horizon, Kim brought the month of November in with a bang this weekend by dropping a new song, video, and performing with the always newsworthy Kendrick Lamar.
The femcee is gearing up for the release of her mixtape Hard Core 2k13, due on Black Friday; the title is an nod to the seminal major label debut album that solidified her spot back in ’96. This past weekend Lil’ Kim hit the net and the streets, performing with Kendrick Lamar at Power 105.1’s Powerhouse event presented by Play GIG-IT at Barclays Center, dropping a new record entitled “Dead Gal Walking”, and dropping a video for her joint “Looks Like Money”, all in support of her new mixtape.
While keeping a high profile all year, most notably coming out during Fabolous‘ set at Hot 97’s Summer Jam this year, The Notorious K.I.M.’s musical output is sure to remain strong as she preps the release of her new project.
