My Life is her sophomore album was released on this day back in 1994. The album reached number 10 on the Billboard 200 charts.

The first single released from the album was “Be Happy,” but her biggest hit from the album was a cover of the r&b band Rolls Royce‘s 1977 hit “I’m Goin’ Down.”

While recording the album, she was going through clinical depression, battling both drugs and alcohol, as well as being in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend singer K-Ci Hailey from Jodeci.

Years after the release of the album, she continued to release albums but back in 2011, she released a sequel to My Life called My Life II…The Journey Continues (Act I) where she worked with Diddy again.
