Diddy gave west coast rapper Schoolboy Q the blessing to go by “Puffy” during a sit down at his LA home.
In an interview done by Vlad TV at this year’s A3C Hip Hop Festival in Atlanta, GA, Top Dawg Entertainment’s Schoolboy Q discussed a recent bonding experience he had with Diddy.
“I mean, he still makes money, he’s still on top of the list every year,” said Schoolboy Q. “I don’t know his last artist that went platinum. He’s still out here, making moves. He still look young. He don’t give a f#%$. He’s doing what he’s doing. I f#%$ with Diddy.”
Q then addressed how he adopted the nickname “Puffy” a while back, and that not only was Diddy okay with it, but he encouraged it.
“He just kept calling me Puffy ’cause I go by Puffy and sh%t. So he just kept calling me Puffy and sh%t. That was cool, hearing him say that…I just turn around now when people say ‘Puffy’. It’s me.”
