Vic Mensa already tasted success thanks to his work with Kids These Days, but he wanted to develop a name for himself as a solo artist. With the release of Innanetape, he successfully stepped out of the shadow of his former group and his fellow SaveMoney crew member, Chance the Rapper. The Chicago emcee brought a fresh sound to the scene that included an innovative concept and lyrical tact. There were many mixtapes released on the internet this year, but none save Vic’s that made us realize how much we were dependent on it. He has a serious future in the game.
