New York street rap is back, so to speak
It seems as though, despite there being some serious validity to the controversial statements Trinidad James made at a NYC concert a month or so back, the timing of those comments was a bit off kilter. Since James’ claimed that the south runs New York radio, Q-Tip & Busta Rhymes, Mack Wilds, Troy Ave and Action Bronson all released new projects (Troy Ave actually just released his second project in as many months), and The Lox, determined to join the party, let loose with The Trinity EP on iTunes last week.
Yesterday morning, after what was hopefully a wonderful Christmas for everyone, the trio stopped by the Hot 97 morning show to go over a few topics with Ebro and Cipha Sounds. They talked about the DJs that really support New York rap, the inspiration behind dropping the EP, a new full album to come soon from them, and the ever-elusive fourth Jadakiss solo album, Top 5, Dead Or Alive (and that’s just off one LP). Check out the video below.
