What else does Jay Z have to say, or prove?  12 number one albums, Beyonce as a wife, Grammy awards, Oprah and Barack on the text.  He won life, not just rap.  But in case you needed a reminder, he went platinum before his album was available.  Check the Soundscan, its true.  Aside from the overbearing aesthetics, Magna Carta Holy Grail was good music.  Some say it’s more of the same Jay, which is fine, considering “the same Jay” is better than the majority of anyone ever.  Think he slipped up on wordplay?  Listen to him dizzy you on “BBC”.  Think he fell off lyrically? Let the second half of “Picasso Baby”, the deliberately technical “Heaven” or the effortless last verse of “Crown” convince you otherwise.  There’s something for everybody on Jay’s latest LP, but most importantly, it did more to help his case as the best ever than hurt it, and at the top, that’s the hardest tactic to manage.
