With both of New York’s basketball teams struggling in the first third of the season, many though that it would be a cold day in hell before both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets would win consecutive games on a regular basis.

As the New York Metropolitan area has recovered from temperature lows of 6 degrees on Tuesday, the Brooklyn Nets (14-21) won their fourth game in a row Wednesday night with a 102-98 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Across the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan, the New York Knicks (12-22) are riding a two game winning streak after an 89-85 win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
The Knicks and Nets strung solid wins together during the Northeast’s cold snap. As the weather warms up to the 30s and 40s today, both teams will put their winning streaks on the line with the NBA’s reigning World Champion Miami Heat (27-8) and the Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh making their way to New York city. They’ll Heat will play both New York teams in the next two days. Winners of eight of their last ten games, the Heat are on a three game winning streak of their own after a 107-88 beat down of the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday. The Knicks will host the Heat at Madison Square Garden today on TNT and the Nets will host the Heat at Barclays Center Friday night on ESPN.

During the Nets’ winning streak, they’ve beaten the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks have won matchups against the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons.
Following the Knicks’ game with the Heat today, they’ll ride down I-95 for a Saturday night matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center. They’re off on Sunday and will resume play on Monday against the Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden. Following Friday’s game, the Nets will head north of the Border on Saturday for a game with the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre. Brooklyn will be off until next Thursday where they’ll play the Atlanta Hawks in The NBA’s London Games at the O2 Arena.
The following week, the Knicks will host the Nets at Madison Square Garden on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in a Clash of the Boroughs Part 2 Game. The Nets still have a sour taste in their mouth after a 113-82 shellacking in December at the hands of the New York Knicks.
