The President is heading South for the North American Summit in February

President Barak Obama will be making a trip to Mexico in February 19 for the North American Summit despite warnings for foreigners to not travel to Mexico.

Topics that will be discussed include economic competitiveness, entrepreneurship, trade and investment, citizen security and immigration, all of which affects North Americans daily lives. The Trilateral Annual Summit was founded on March 23, 2005 with a purpose for Security and Prosperity Partnership for North Americans leaders and citizens.

Other leaders who will be in attendance are Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Joseph Harper and Mexico President Enrique Pena Nieto. Immigration reform has been the President’s second term priorities. Leaders from Mexico have pressed Congress to legalize the status of 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S. This year summit will be held in the city Toluca, which is the fifth largest city and the state capital of Mexico state, with a population of 1.6 million.
