WIz Khalifa occupies a very interesting position within the game. After grinding independently for years, releasing 2 albums and countless mixtapes in 2010 Wiz finally hit that perfect combination of mixtape love stemming from his seminal Kush & OJ followed up by incredible crossover success from his monstrous pop culture transcending song “Black & Yellow” . In the years since, he has steadily cemented his role as a major player in the game, he is someone who doesn’t need to rely on momentary and passing buzz like most others in the current “hot today, who? tomorrow” environment we live in.

Unfortunately his last release 2012’s O.N.I.F.C was seen by most as a disappointment artistically and a let down commercially. On his upcoming Blacc Hollywood Wiz looks to rebound and improve on his stature. Wiz has said that he recorded songs with both Miley Cyrus and Adele already and is just waiting to get clearance to use them on his album. But those big name pop stars aren’t enough for the rapper who nowadays dresses more like a 70’s rocker, he has plans to work with Lady Gaga as well.

Wiz is a different man now, having a child and gettin married will do that to you (that and all the dab hits). What most fans are really hoping is for Wiz to return to his early days of GOING HARD, and focus less on making commercial hits. Let’s hope the production, which Mannie Fresh recently confirmed to be part of can help him with that. Expect features from Taylor Gang members Ty Dollar $ign & Juicy J, as well as previous collaborator The Weeknd. So far two songs have been released that will purportedly be on the album, the Sledgren produced “Look Into My Eyes” & “Get Me Some More”.
