In the first half of New England’s AFC Championship loss to Denver, Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker flattened Patriot cornerback Aqib Talib taking him out of the game. Â Talib was of course a big piece of the Patriots defense and having him out was a significant loss.
Welker claimed that he did not intend to hit Talib but coach Bill Belichick strongly disagrees.
âIt is a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib,â Belichick told ProFootballTalk Monday morning. âNo attempt to get open. And Iâll let the league handle the discipline on that play. Itâs not for me to decide, but itâs one of the worst plays Iâve seen. And thatâs all Iâm going to say about that.â
Now it could’ve been Belichick calling it like he sees it or it’s him being sick he no longer has Welker on his team and Brady’s offensive weapons were seriously depleted this year. Â Either way Belichick was pretty blatant in calling Welker a dirty player.
