After two human legs were discovered on the shore of College Point, Queens, local police has unfortunately confirmed that the body parts found belong to autistic child, Avonte Oquendo. Reportedly trying to run away from a dog, authorities believe that Avonte drowned after falling into the river.
Oquendo, went missing from his school in October and has not been seen since. A skull with only two teeth remaining were also found at the scene. The young boy’s parents have been notified that their sons remains were found.
Police report that the remains are being taken to the Queens county morgue where the medical examiner will determine an exact cause of death. Our thoughts are with Avonte’s family and loved ones.
