kevin-durant-oklahoma-city-thunderDurant put in his FOURTH 40 point game this month, dropping 41 pts, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

You thought that was it? He added in a clutch buzzer beater over three defenders in the final seconds to give the Oklahoma City Thunder a 111-109 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

It’s still a little early for the MVP conversation, but it is well deserved for Durant after this unbelievable stretch of games this month.

The man simply can’t be stopped. Last night was Kevin Durant’s 11th 30 point performance. The longest 30 point game stretches? Kobe Bryant (16), Tracy McGrady (14), Michael Jordan (11), Shaquille O’Neal (11). This scoring stretch reminds me of NBA Jam in the 90’s when the announcers would scream “He’s on FIRE!!”

Just how special has Kevin Durant been in January? Take a look at Chris Palmer’s tweet below.

We all know LeBron James has been keeping an eye on Durant and Carmelo Anthony’s big performances. He is even receiving scoring updates on Durant’s box score numbers. Tomorrow night, the NBA’s two biggest stars will go at it on ESPN at 7 pm in South Beach. With Durant on this legendary scoring run and LeBron always looking to make a statement, we can only expect greatness in tomorrow’s matchup.
