How excited are you to be attending the Clive Davis Gala?

Mike WiLL Made It: It’s dope, it’s always dope coming out rubbing some elbows, eating some good food, talking to some good people, watching good performances. Miley’s performing, TI’s performing, Pharrell’s performing. It’s dope we’re just here to have a good time. We’re here to turn up, you know how we do.

Can you reflect on “Bangerz” and collaborating with Miley Cyrus now that it’s out?

Mike WiLL Made It: I mean we’re working on the next project, we’re working on more projects. Me and Miley never stop working. To see “Bangerz” come out and get the reaction that it did, and see people still buying the album and see people liking the album so much, I mean it’s dope. It was a great feeling to see our vision come out and so many people liking it.

You were recently in the studio with Mariah Carey. How did that come about?

Mike WiLL Made It: I was working with Karen Kwak from Def Jam. I have a really good relationship with Def Jam. Then Mariah heard about me, and of course I grew up listening to her, so we were interested in working with each other, so we got in the studio and worked and come out with a dope song. Hopefully, we can come out with more songs, and the song we have right now is pretty special.

What other project would you like to highlight?

Mike WiLL Made It: I’m executive producing Future’s album right now, we’re wrapping that up mixing it. He has a lot of big collaborations on there it should be an eventful album. That’s where my focus is on right now. After that I’m moving on and focusing on my album and zeroing in on that.

Tell us about #MikeWillBeenTrill.

Mike WiLL Made It: That was my mixtape I just dropped in December. I’ve been dropping a mixtape every December since 2011. It was definitely a mixtape to wrap up the 2013. Like most slept on greatest hits type of CD. it was like one of those types of deals. It got a good reaction. I haven’t even really been promoting it, I just wanted to see how people would react to it. I just wanted to give people something to listen to until my album gets done.

What can you tell us about your album?

Mike WiLL Made It: It’s gonna be special. I don’t wanna drop it until it’s really eventful, special. I feel like with Dre dropping “The Chronic,” with Timbaland dropping his albums, Puffy dropping his albums, I feel like I have to come with a real special album, and I’m not rapping, so I have to make sure it’s all the way right, production focus has to be, every hi-hat has to be right, every drum, every sound, synth, everything has to be right!

Sponsored by Harman, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Hyundai, and MasterCard Worldwide, the celebration took place on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on the Eve of the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
