Carmen: A Hip Hopera
As we conclude our top ten hip hop love movies of all time, it wouldn’t be a list if we didn’t put this movie on the list. This movie was a remake of the hit movie, Carmen starring the late great Dorothy Dandridge. This marked the acting debut of Ms. Beyonce aka Mrs. Carter as she plays the lead character, Carmen Brown, a woman who is incredibly sexy & causes trouble. Mehki Phifer‘s character Derek ends up falling for her towards her death. Instead of the traditional opera singing, the movie incorporated rapping as each character go through situations and ended up dying at the end of the movie.
