The 1959 Disney animated classic Sleeping Beauty will receive a live-action remake from the point of view of the iconic villainess, Maleficent. The movie will not only cover the story of Princess Aurora, but it will delve into the history of Maleficent and the events that turned her “heart to stone.” Angelina Jolie, whose been on a hiatus from the big screen since her 2010 flop The Tourist, will play the “Mistress of All Evil”, with Elle Fanning taking up as Princess Aurora/Briar Rose. The sullen, but visually-striking retelling should appeal to audiences of all ages.
