The story of Noah is one that most of us are familiar with, but the character himself is one that has never been given much depth.  He’s a man, who must build an ark to save humanity — simple enough, right? The upcoming film adaptation differs from the story you know and films you’ve seen, depicting Noah as a very morose and conflicted individual. Director Darren Aronofsky has been infatuated with the story of Noah and the great flood since he won a United Nations poem contest, three decades ago at the age of 13. He told The Guardian in 2007 that Noah is a “a dark, complicated character” who suffers from “real survivor’s guilt” following the Great Flood. Russell Crowe will man the title role, along with an all-star cast consisting of Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, and Anthony Hopkins in this biblical epic.
