A Night To Remember—Ladies Night R&B Extravaganza

Thursday night’s snowstorm couldn’t put a damper on the hottest Pre-Valentine’s Day show in New York City. Keith Sweat, K-Ci & Jojo. Al B. Sure, Carl Thomas, Christopher Williams, Case and El Debarge performed in front of a sold out crowd at the Barclays Center, February 13, 2014.

Christopher Williams opened his set not quite like we remember him, but performing his hit, ‘I’m Dreaming’ none-the-less. After announcing he and his wife were starring in this season’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, he proclaims he ‘does not hit women’ before exiting the stage.

Standouts include K-Ci and JoJo who sang through all their hits as K-Ci put on a show for the ladies to remember. Grinding the air, sticking out his tongue and even riding the shoulders of his security guard through the Barclays. K-Ci entertained all the single ladies. Al.B Sure claimed, “I lost 20lbs for this…”, hit every high note in ‘Night and Day’ taking us back to the 80’s when he ruled R&B.

Carl Thomas stole the crowd with the pronounced singing of his classics off of his debut album ‘Emotional’. Pleasing the crowd, Carl proved why Sean Combs snatched him to be an official Bad Boy. His raw talent evoked as he didn’t miss any note and left us wanting more.

Case brought his hip hop vibe to the show singing ‘Touch Me Tease Me’ and his ballads that made the ladies swoon.

The host of the night was Harlem’s own, Doug E. Fresh who gave us 6 minutes to do his thing stealing the show with his God given talent before announcing Jagged Edge and El Debarge were stuck due to the storm.

Keith Sweat pulled out every stop as his set included a live band complete with a red couch and red chair. During his set he invited a man’s wife onstage who jumped at the opportunity to seduce Keith on the red couch but after awhile, Keith had her removed from the stage and returned her to her husband. Before the show was over, El Debarge hit the stage last minute with just his keyboard and went through his string of hits from the 80’s.

All in all fun was had at the monumental sold out crowd.
Ladies Night R&B Extravaganza was a huge success and we can’t wait for the next one!
