Franklin Barbecue (E 11th Street)

Make sure you come early — Franklin closes at 2 p.m. But the restaurant more than compensates for its lack of a dinner menu by offering what’s considered to be the best brisket in Austin. The “fatty brisket” is a local favorite, but the ribs and pulled pork definitely hold their own. Waits can go as long as two hours, but if you’re willing to stick it out, you won’t be disappointed.
