One artist proves that age isn’t putting these heroes out of commission!
Aside from Wolverine (and maybe a couple of other superheroes if you consider some nuances), our favorite comic heroes age. One artist shows that despite their mortality, these crime fighters still kick butt.
Artist, Lesley Vamos, challenges the concept of young heroes by portraying classic characters as elderly vigilantes. One picture includes Batman and Robin, who despite a little weight gain, still look ready to rumble. The two characters have an uncanny resemblance to their parody versions, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, from the Nickelodeon show Spongebob Squarepants.
Other characters include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Rogue from X-Men, and Tony Stark as Iron Man.
The Australian-born artist is also the illustrator of the children’s book The Anything Shop.
